The Supreme Court of India has released an official notification inviting online applications for the Junior Court Assistant (JCA) post. Vacancy Details
The Supreme Court has announced 241 vacancies for the post of Junior Court Assistant (JCA). However, the number of vacancies is tentative and may change due to administrative reasons.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the Junior Court Assistant post, candidates must meet the following criteria as of March 8, 2025:
Educational Qualification
- A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) in English on a computer.
- Basic knowledge of computer operations.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 30 years
- Age relaxations are applicable as per government rules for SC/ST/OBC, differently-abled, Ex-Servicemen, and dependents of Freedom Fighters.
- No upper age limit for departmental candidates working in the Supreme Court Registry.
Salary and Benefits
- The selected candidates will be placed in Level 6 of the Pay Matrix with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400/-.
- The approximate gross salary is ₹72,040/- per month, including House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other allowances.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of multiple stages:
- Objective Type Written Test (100 Questions – 2 Hours)
- 50 questions on General English (including comprehension)
- 25 questions on General Aptitude
- 25 questions on General Knowledge
- Objective Type Computer Knowledge Test (25 Questions)
- Typing Test (English)
- Candidates must achieve a minimum speed of 35 w.p.m. on a computer.
- Maximum 3% mistakes allowed.
- Descriptive Test (English Language) – 2 Hours
- Comprehension passage
- Precis writing
- Essay writing
- Interview
- Candidates who clear the above tests will be called for an interview.
- The final merit list will be based on performance in all stages.
- The ratio of candidates selected for the interview will not exceed 1:3 (3 candidates per vacancy).
Exam Centers
The written test will be conducted in 128 cities across 28 states and union territories. Some of the major cities include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Patna, Lucknow, Jaipur, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Kerala and Guwahati.

- Online applications open on February 5, 2025 (10:00 AM).
- Last date to apply: March 8, 2025 (11:55 PM).
- Applications will only be accepted online. No postal applications are allowed.
Application Fee
- General/OBC candidates: ₹1000/-
- SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Differently Abled/Freedom Fighter candidates: ₹250/-
- Payment must be made online via UCO Bank’s payment gateway.
Important Instructions for Applicants
- Ensure eligibility before applying. If found ineligible at any stage, the application will be canceled.
- Upload a scanned copy of your photograph, signature, and required documents while submitting the application.
- Retain your application number for downloading the admit card and future reference.
- Admit cards will not be sent by post – candidates must download them from the Supreme Court’s website.
- Any false information or misconduct in the examination will lead to disqualification and legal action.
- Candidates working in government departments must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of the interview.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the tests or interviews.
